Prevent the Burn Out

You can prevent the Burn Out!

Hello fellow wedding and event workers. I have been a wedding photographer for over 10 years now, so I know first hand how taxing an event day can be. We work up to 12 hour days with little to no breaks, rest time, or adequate food and water. I don’t need to be a doctor to tell you that this is unhealthy.

Now, I’m not here questioning why we put ourselves through this – I know the unmatched feeling of helping someone else enjoy and revel in their special day – but I do want to help our community find ways to give back to themselves in the process.

In addition to being a wedding and event photographer, I am also a certified yoga instructor and have taught over 2000 classes. Through both of these endeavors, I have been able to witness and personally experience how beneficial the intertwining of yoga is in our daily lives, especially for event workers like us.

Wedding Vendor Pains

I have honed in on both of my crafts to create quick and effective practices that will ease the aches and pains of your body that come with being on your feet for hours on end. They also prevent headaches and shoulder strain and reduce your overall levels of exhaustion. After implementing these practices into your routine, not only will you feel the immediate effects, but you are boosting your health and life longevity.

There have been studies done that have proven that yoga eases pain through practicing yoga asanas (postures), meditation, or a combination of the two. Practicing yoga has also been proven to reduce levels of cortisol, your body’s main stress hormone, due to the fact that most classes end with savasana, a relaxation pose. https://www.yogajournal.com/poses/yoga-by-benefit/calm/yoga-poses-for-relaxation/

I have developed yoga sequences that you can do the day before, the day of, and the day after an event that will have your body bouncing back faster and better than before. They are a combination of strength, stretches, and restorative practices to help your muscles recover from long event days. The program is specifically designed to target the unique challenges and pains that event vendors face and work to prevent the burnout that coincides with them.

Weddings are tough but we work them because we love them. Reward yourself and your body for your hard work and following your passion through restorative yoga. It will ignite your aliveness and allow you and your work to sustain for years to come. Taking better care of yourself, means that you can take better care of your clients! Don’t give up your health for your career, your health will last much longer.
